TF Sport set for the ELMS, British GT doubleBack
With the British GT season finale taking place at Donington Park and the European Le Mans Series set for the penultimate round at Spa Francorchamps, the coming weekend (23-24 September) will be a busy one for TF Sport.
Second position last time out at Paul Ricard saw TF Sport extend their LMGTE advantage at the head of the European Le Mans Series standings to nine points. Heading to Belgium, the British-based team are well-aware that there are still 50 points to play for.
Salih Yoluc, Euan Hankey and Nicki Thiim have already secured a victory and three further podium positions so far in the #90 Aston Martin Vantage V8. Recent rounds have seen the trio battling hard for podium positions, something they hope to be in a position to improve on this time out. In addition to the ELMS round, the team are on track at Donington in the UK for the final round of the British GT Championship.
Featuring a stunning new livery on the #1 Aston Martin Vantage GT3, Derek Johnston and Jonny Adam sit fourth in the standings, the former openly admitting that this is his favourite circuit by far, and with one win already this year, the duo are aiming to cap off the season on a high. Mark Farmer and Jon Barnes are just 4.5 points shy in fifth position, and following a successful test at Donington Park, Farmer is bullish ahead of the final two-hour endurance race.
“We’ve got a busy weekend ahead with the twin programme,” said TF Sport Director Tom Ferrier. “At Spa in the ELMS, we’ll be under pressure for a good result as we think the championship will almost certainly go down to the wire in Portimao. So as ever, the aim is secure a podium and if possible finish ahead of our main two rivals.
“In British GT, it’s been a difficult season, but overall, we have been competitive, just not showing the race-winning pace of last year. We’ll see if we can end the campaign with a strong result to give us a boost over the off-season.”
