RACING TEAM TURKEY RETAINS CLASS LEAD AND OMAN RACING WITH TF SPORT VANTAGE DUO SCORE CRUCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS

Racing Team Turkey remain in the lead of the European Le Mans Series LMP2 Pro Am championship standings and Oman Racing with TF Sport take second GTE pole position of the season at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. A demanding race for TF Sport saw the Racing Team Turkey LMP2 hold on to their Pro Am championship lead. Class pole-sitting Bronze-graded Salih Yoluç had an extremely impressive start as he rocketed up to P2 overall by the first corner on the opening lap. The Turkish driver then maintained his stellar pace to hand over to Charlie Eastwood in a strong position. Between Eastwood and Jack Aitken, the #34 sat second in class in the closing stages of the race, until a late puncture for Aitken forced an unscheduled pit stop for a tyre replacement. This knocked the trio out of podium contention, with no time to regain track position, leaving them to take the flag in fourth. It was a tough run for the #69 Oman Racing with TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage GTE. Pole-setter Ahmad Al Harthy had a strong start and remained at the sharp end of the order, until contact with a Ferrari forced the Omani to box for repairs. It was then up to team mates Sam De Haan and Marco Sørensen to manage the remainder of the race, where they finished in the top-10. John Hartshorne in the #95 Vantage had a strong start, managed to avoid the opening lap carnage and showed strong pace throughout his stint. With the added solid efforts of Jonny Adam and Henrique Chaves, the trio claimed a P7 finish at the flag. #95 and #69 now sit sixth and seventh respectively, in the LMGTE standings, and with two rounds remaining and 52 points still up for grabs, the championship title hunt is wide open! Racing Team Turkey hold a 10-point lead in the LMP2 Pro Am class standings and will be looking to extend this lead at the next round in Spa-Francorchamps on September 25!
Tom Ferrier, TF Sport Owner Managing Director - "There are many positives to take away from this weekend. Holding onto the lead of the LMP2 Pro Am championship is crucial for our goal of achieving this season's title. Ahmad being back on pole was the highlight for the other side of the garage and then it was another frustrating weekend for our GTEs. Nevertheless they are both only a stones throw away from second in the championship and with two rounds left, anything can happen!"
Jack Aitken #34 Gold Driver - "Salih made a fantastic start from P3 and got us into second, which is just what we needed! He managed to hold on pretty well in within the top-five throughout the majority of his stint. We were just a bit unlucky that we missed out on pitting during a full course yellow period for our second pitstop, which placed us slightly on the back foot as we were then constantly fighting to get back on the lead lap and back into the lead of the Pro Am class. At the end we had the puncture whilst I was in the car, as it was looking like a comfortable P2 finish, so it was a bit frustrating and a massive shame because as per usual everybody worked really hard this week and deserved at least a podium. We still have the championship lead, so I'm looking forward to the last two rounds!"
Ahmad Al Harthy, #69 Bronze Driver - "Not the result we were hoping for after a good few opening laps, I think it was just a matter of trying to get the overtake done as we had the pace over the Porsches at that point in time. Being stuck behind them for such a long time was really hurting the tyres and when we started to regroup again in P2, unfortunately with the lack of grip it was hard to make the move, although we were quicker, unfortunately there was contact which I couldn't avoid from my end. It's a shame the race ended the way it did. We'll regroup ahead of Spa and we'll make sure we get everything back to where it's supposed to be. With two rounds still to go, we'll give it the best we can!"
Henrique Chaves #95 Silver Driver - "The race wasn't what we expected, P7 isn't what we aim for. I think with the pace we had, it was good result in the end. Hopefully we can do a lot better in Spa! For here it was okay get more points! Better than Monza for sure. John is improving a lot, especially during the race. After many of his competitors started to struggle with the tyres, he kept his consistency so hats off to him! We've still got room for improvement, but we will work on that in Spa and hopefully be back on the podium!"
