TF Sport - British GT R7 Facts and Stats
TF Sport showed great pace to record a brilliant one-two result Sunday (24 September) at Donington Park, bringing to a close the British GT championship on a very positive note.
Having dominated qualifying, Mark Farmer and Derek Johnston lined up blue #11 and red #1 Aston Martin V12s on the front row of the grid for the season finale.
The start saw Johnston lose a little ground but was soon able to work his way back up second position behind Farmer. The battle for the lead then commenced with Farmer holding Johnston at bay until the driver change.
However, with a success penalty from Brands Hatch to serve, Jonny Adam was able to wrest the lead from Barnes at the driver change. Adam led from Barnes and the two TF Sport teammates battled for position until pressure from behind eased which allowed them to consolidate the positions and record the team’s second win of the season.
Tom Ferrier, TF Sport Director
“A great weekend. Team, car, drivers, were all on top form all weekend. We were fast in every session and deserved the result. A 1-2 is a lovely way to finish the year.”
Jonny Adam, driver #1 G
"The pace was great. Derek’s stint was really good – a great battle between himself and Mark. It’s great that TF Sport ended the season on a high with a one-two and this gives us a bit of excitement and a real lift for next year... It’s been a really good weekend. "
Mark Farmer, driver #11 B
“It was a really good weekend, but it wasn't easy. I was getting a lot of pressure from Derek throughout my stint, so so much pressure. But I really enjoyed it, looking forward to next season.
Jon Barnes, driver #11 S
“It was good to get my first pole in GT racing and to do it with Mark was mega. We had the success penalty to take from Brands Hatch which made a win very difficult to achieve. But we had really good pace this weekend and we were just unable to build a big enough gap to maintain the lead after the stop.
